Welcome to Spiritual Myanmar

Day (1) Arrival of Myanmar ( D )

After landing at Yangon airport, your local expert will meet and transfer you to your hotel. No activities are scheduled for this day, allowing for relaxation for the week’s activities.

Day (2) Tour the Yangon Streets & Visit Spiritual Sights ( B / L ) 

Breakfast will be served at the hotel, followed by an introduction about Myanmar lead by your local expert. The presentation will discuss cultural norms, customs, history and more. Following the introduction, you are transported to downtown Yangon to partake in its busy street life, make friends with local merchants, visit markets and take in all of the new sights and sounds. After working up an appetite you will have lunch at a local restaurant then head back to your hotel for an afternoon break to freshen up. In the evening you meet an elder from Myanmar’s last generation. This person is from a well-educated class society, who served in the top level of the Ministry during the country’s pure military rule. Meeting and discussing will give you a sense of Myanmar’s past, which has been a closed book till recently,  it’s present possibilities, and it’s possible future. Following this intimate conversation, you will visit one of the wonders of the world, the Shwe Dagon Pagoda. This pagoda was built during Lord Buddha’s life and is the earliest pagoda ever built.  Today the Shwe Dagone Pagoda is admired for its outstanding ancient artwork and its religious role which attracts locals and foreign visitors alike. Explore this grande and magical site.

Day (3) Fly From Yangon to Bagan ( B/ L ) 

  Breakfast is served at the hotel. Afterward, leave for the Yangon airport to fly to Bagan. The city of Bagan is said to be magical and very impressive with over 2000 pagodas and temples all within 16 square kilometers. You will land at the Nyaung Oo airport in Bagan, then be taken to your hotel to freshen up before heading out to explore the ancient city of Bagan. Bagan is full of religious monuments where-ever you look. You will be guided through the most important and impressive temples for the full afternoon. After touring, return to your hotel to relax staying cool from the late afternoon heat. In the early evening, after the sun sets, you will return to a continued visit to a few more temples which look magical when lit up at night against the backdrop of the deep blue evening sky.

Day (4) Market and Orphanage Visit ( B / L ) 

  Wake up a bit early today and leave the hotel, after having breakfast, for Nyaung Oo the biggest market in Bagan. This is the market where you can interact with resident villagers and learn about their livelihoods. This market is famous for selling and buying fresh foods of all types, as well as, freshly handicrafts and a host of cultural items. It’s a great place to see the local color of Myanmar’s life and buy items to bring back home with you. Afterward touring the market, you will visit Shwe Gu Orphanage where more than a hundred children live and receive their education. The children, mostly young come from every part of the country.  You will have a conversation with the founder of the orphanage and have lunch with the children. This will offer you an opportunity to see a sea of beautiful smiles which the children all have. After this full morning, you will return back to your hotel to relax till the evening when you be taken to the Ayeya boat jetty. Here you will enjoy a private boat ride on the Irrawaddy River, the country’s strong and powerful river, to watch the evening’s sunset. Your own dinner will be served at a local restaurant while enjoying a Burmese local show.

Day (5)  Full-day Trip to Mount Popa ( B / L ) 

  Your day will begin with a visit to the spiritual mountain Mount Popa often referred to as ‘Flower of the Mountain’. Mount Popa was once an active volcano million of years ago, but today it has become the ‘Holy Spirit’ sight for those who worship and believe in spirits. While traveling to Mount Popa we will make a few stops to see local businesses who make peanut oil, local rice whiskey and sweets made from palm juice. We are expected to reach Mount Popa in the early noon and once we arrive, you will learn of the local saying which states:  ‘In order to complete a successful trip to Mount. Popa one has to complete the climbing of 777 steps to the top.’ However, your climbing efforts will not be wasted, as the views from Mount Popa are stunning and will give you a good view of the geography you just passed through.  Afterward, you will have lunch at a local restaurant than a drive back to your hotel. At the hotel, you can relax and prepare for the evening when you will be bicycle ride among the temples and capture your final sunset of Bagan.

Day (6) Drive from Bagan to Mandalay ( B/L)

  After breakfast say goodbye to Bagan and head towards Mandalay by a comfortable private van. The drive will take 3.5 hours, making multi-stops for lunch, local villages, and farms and meeting with villagers and farmers. You will reach Mandalay in the late afternoon having the opportunity to relax and freshen up. After relaxation, you will visit the world’s longest wooden bridge, named U Bein. Crossing this 1.2 km long bridge you will slowly watch the sunset over the water. It will be a stunning sight for photographers. Afterward, you will return to your hotel, freshen up and then go out for on your own tasty Thai food for dinner.

Day (7) City Tour & Meditation ( B / L ) 

  After breakfast at the hotel, you will have the opportunity to explore the city of Mandalay. Your first visit will be to the Zay Cho market, which literally means ‘cheap’ market. This market is the largest market in upper Myanmar where you can explore and sample some of the best local snacks to be found. Afterward, you will visit local marble carving villages where you will see young and old artists turning blocks of white marble into beautiful and tranquil pieces of work.  No matter how long you watch the process of bringing a stone to life, will you ever tire? It is truly beautiful in the making.  This is where people from around the country who need religious scripts or images come. Afterward, you will return to your hotel to relax as the temperature outside begins to get warm.   In the early evening, you will head to a monastery where you will have the opportunity to meditate for a few hours. The abbot from this monastery is quite friendly and is a well-known master of instruction for all levels on how to meditate.  After meditation, you will have time to walk along the powerful Irrawaddy River. It is here where you can observe the day to day activities which relies on the river and is the lifeline not only for the people employed by the river but the life that the river gives to the entire country.  The day will end with your own dinner along the river, then back to your hotel after a full day.

Day (8)  Full-day Trip to a Country Village ( B/L )

  After a restful sleep and morning breakfast, you will be driven out of Mandalay for two hours to visit country villages. You stop at a local market for a few minutes to gather some food items to offer to older villagers who can no longer work in the fields, and purchase a few school supplies for the children who attend school to help them with their education.  These gifts are very small, but mean much to the receivers. It is a gift that brings smiles, laughter and sometimes tires of joy. After reaching the village you will be welcomed into a private home, allowing you to really understand what it feels to be a villager.  It is this part of the trip that is most personal as you will be treated humbly and graciously by the family.  Village families are honored to meet foreign guests and often there is an exchange of contact information as the guests and families form a bond.  While visiting the family home you will have lunch then go to visit the village school. Depending on the school and grade level you will visit with teachers, students and have a chance to understand what it is to have an education which is a special privilege.  It is in the school rooms that you will meet with shy children who giggle when you ask them their name or practice your English with them. After visiting the school you have a chance to travel by ox cart to explore the farmers’ crop plantations, understand how the farmer cares for his crops and how it is sold at market. After observing the livelihoods of how most families in Myanmar live, you return back to your hotel. Before your own dinner time you will visit Mandalay Hill where once again you will say goodbye to the day by watching the sunset on the city of Mandalay.

Day (9) Mandalay to Monywa ( B/ L ) 

  Check out of your hotel after breakfast at the hotel, then drive to Monywa which is 150 km and a drive lasting approximately  2.5 hours. Once you have arrived at Monywa, you will check into your hotel and have a chance to take a small break to avoid the outside heat. In the evening you will visit a unique and vast sandstone cave system which is located in the Pho Win Hills. It is named after a famous ‘Zawgyi’ (alchemist) who once lived here. The cave itself has hundreds of Buddhist statues and murals within it, some of which exist from the 14th century. It is not every day you can enter a cave, walk and explore and visit with objects placed there from centuries before. Afterward, you will return to your hotel to refresh before going out for your own dinner.

Day (10)  Explore more dipper of Monywa (B / L )

  Breakfast is served at the hotel, then you will have a  full day to explore Monywa. Your first visit will be to Moenyin Thanboddhay Paya. This richly decorated central stupa has more than 800 smaller stupas surrounding it, with 500,000 of Buddha images decorating every wall, archway, and niche. The buildings within the compound comprise of interesting Buddha stories, plus an extremely large reclining Buddha. Afterward, break for lunch, then proceed to visit the Aungset Kya Pagoda and the Bodhi Tahtaung Pagoda, where you will see thousands of Bodi trees with sitting Buddha images. Wander around these and other beautiful sights, then head back to your hotel to freshen up, then proceed to your own dinner to recap the day’s activities.

Day (11) Monywa to Mandalay International Airport ( B ) 

  There is a saying: All good things come to an end. And so we at Immersive Golden Land Travels must say ‘Tar Tar’ which is goodbye in Burmese. After breakfast, you will be driven to the Mandalay International Airport.  At the airport, we will assist you with documents and ensure you all is set for a relaxing flight. If anyone on the program would like to remain on your own or would like to travel to other countries in Southeast Asia we are happy to help and/or advise you with any questions or needs you might have.

Terms & Conditions


Rate: All rates at Immersive Golden Lands Travel are non commissionable, and include a 10% service charge & 5% of government tax.


Payment: Immersive Golden Lands Travel requests prepayment for all bookings. Full payment to be made 30 days before the first day of the program.


Child Policy: Immersive Golden Lands Travel provides 100% Free Of Charge for a child under the age of 2. A child 8 years and younger costs 75% for child of an adult’s full fee, assuming the child shares the parents bed for sleeping.


Complimentary: Immersive Golden Lands Travel provides 1 Free of Charge  program leader for a group of minimum of 15 people.


Cancellation & No show: Cancellations must be made 30 days before the first day of the program start date, otherwiseImmersive Golden Lands Travel has the right to charge cancellation fees as follow;

1). Within 30 – 15 days, of the program start date, charged 25%

2). Within 14 – 8 days, of  the program start date, charged 50%

3). Within 7 days, of the program start date, charged 100%

4). No show would be charged 100%
