Cultural Immersion

Day (1) Welcome to Cultural Immersion (D)

After landing in Myanmar at Yangon International airport, your local expert will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. No activities are scheduled for this day allowing you to relax and prepare for the coming adventures. Dinner will include a delightful Burmese meal.

Day (2) Explore Yangon & Shwe Dagon ( B/L ) 

After having breakfast at your hotel, you will be briefed with an introduction about Myanmar culture and customs.  Your Immersive Golden Land Travels’ local expert will take you for a morning walking excursion of Yangon which will include a tour of British colonial architecture, and a visit to the Bogyoke Aung San market, which is one of the largest indoor markets in South East Asia. You will explore the market and enjoy lunch in the market mingling with local buyers and sellers. Afterward, you will return to your hotel to relax or enjoy the pool to avoid the afternoon heat.  

In the evening we will visit the world-renowned pagoda named: Shwedagon Pagoda. According to historians and legends, the Pagoda was built 2500 years ago. It is important as a religious site for worshiping but also for its 6th and 21st-century mixture of artwork which can still be viewed. 

After visiting the Shwe Dagon Pagoda, dinner will take place at a local restaurant to further acquaint yourself with Myanmar cuisine and customs.

Day (3) Fly to Yangon to Inle Lake ( B/L )

 

After breakfast at the hotel, you will leave for Inle Lake which is known as the gateway of the southern Shan State. After landing at Heho airport you will proceed to Inle Lake. On the way, you will stop at Shwe Yan Pyae monastery a unique red painted teak wood building with oval windows and decorated with amazing mosaics and golden ornaments.

Afterward, you will continue onto Inle, check into your hotel and relax before going to have lunch and taking a private long tail boat to explore activities on Inle Lake.

As your boat moves through the vegetation gardens and floating villages, you will see multiple versions of how people live and depend on the lake. You will have the opportunity to visit local homes, learn about water farming techniques and floating gardens.

Once you have toured these unique sites, you will head back to your hotel while watching the sunset. Dinner will be a comfortable one at the hotel.

Day (4)  Full-Day Touring on Inle Lake ( B/L )

Be ready to spend a wonderful full day exploring on Inle Lake in your long tail boat.  Wake up early as you do not want to miss the morning rotation market. This is a colorful market where multi-ethnic tribes come to gather to sell and buy farm products, it’s unlike other markets with the diversity of the ethnic tribes, so be sure to bring your camera to capture the bright colors of the clothing and learn the mannerisms of the groups.  

Once you have met the tribes, tasted the local foods, examined the art and craft work, be ready to drive your boat through into floating gardens and villages to see how people live on the water. You will also have time to purchase Inle local products at silver workshops, blacksmith, lotus weaving, silk weaving and much more. You will have fun deciding which is more beautiful or unique from item to item. 

After you have done activities for a full morning, lunch will take place followed by a visit to the important temple Phaung Daw U Pagoda  There is a local saying which states, ‘A trip to Inle Lake is not complete unless you visit the Phaung Daw U Pagoda’ and this is true.  

Following the pagoda, you will re-embark to your boat which will recap the activities you had earlier in the day. But you will have a new stop: the Nga Phe Kyaung Wooden Monastery also known as Jumping Cat Monastery, where you will see the most impressive Buddha images from the 11th and 18th centuries.  As you disembark your boat into the monastery you will quickly learn why the monastery acquired its name. Once done, you will then proceed to your hotel and have a relaxing dinner at your hotel.

Day (5)  Fly Inle to Bagan ( B/L ) 

After breakfast, we will drive to the Heho airport to fly to Bagan the most magical and impressive city in all of Myanmar due to its 3000 pagodas and temples situation within a 16 Sq Km. After landing at Nyaung U Airport (Bagan) drive directly to your hotel to quickly check into your hotel and drop off your bags. We will then leave the hotel to start the exploration of the temples and pagodas. Not to worry, you will not visit all 3000 buildings, our tour will take you to the most significant and impressive temples and pagodas. Each will have a unique story to tell whether it be its construction style, size, history or location.

Lunch will be at a local restaurant while touring the sites, followed by a return to your hotel to relax and escape the afternoon heat.  Once the evening arrives and it is cooler, you will journey out again to view the sunset on a hill overlooking the temples and basking in the setting suns golden light. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant.

Day (6)  Full-day Tour of Bagan Temples ( B/L )

Today will be a more relaxed morning. Leave your hotel after breakfast, then enjoy touring by bicycle breaking for lunch, touring a bit more before returning back to your hotel to refresh and freshen up. In the late afternoon, you will be taking a private boat to view the beautiful sunset on the grand and powerful  Irrawaddy River. Cold drinks will be served on the boat and dinner at a local restaurant will await you after your boat excursion.  A real treat awaits you at the restaurant, as you have dinner you will enjoy a Burmese Traditional Puppet show, fun for the old and young.

Day (7)  Bagan to Mandalay by Bus ( B/L )

  Have an easy morning today waking up late, enjoying a relaxing breakfast then packing as you prepare to leave for Mandalay by your own private and comfortable van. The drive will take approximately 3.5 hours to arrive at Mandalay. During the drive, you will have opportunities to stop by villages, vegetable fields and have lunch at a local restaurant.

Expect to reach Mandalay in the late afternoon, when you will check into your hotel, and have time to enjoy quiet time to yourself.  In the evening you will leave for Mandalay Hill for a sunset view of the city which will be very lovely.  Dinner will be at the best Thai restaurant in Mandalay.

Day (8) Mandalay City & Mingu Tour ( B/L )

 

After breakfast at your hotel, your first stop will be the colorful Zay Cho market. It is said to be the busiest market in the country. It is where all goods imported from every part of the country, such as crops, furniture, hard or soft materials, clothes, local snacks, Burmese fabrics and more, arrive.  To add to this many items from China and India can be found at Mandalay is the port city nestled between these two countries. Explore the hustle and bustle of this big market and see how locals purchase and resell their goods It is an impressive site for photographers so don’t forget your cameras.

After experiencing the market, you will proceed to the jade market, which is another unique and not often visited place for visitors. It is the largest jade market in the country for upper and central Myanmar. Another photographer’s haven, as there are so many interesting scenes to be captured.  Learn how local jade dealers determine the quality of a stone, watch the art of cutting jade, polishing and create beautiful items from the jade.  This is not a market for tourists to buy, although you can, this is a behind the scenes look at the jade trade.

 

Continue to the Mayachan boat jetty to catch a boat to Mingun which is located on the west- bank of the Irrawaddy River. Mingun temple was intentionally built as the world’s largest religious site in 1790 but sadly the donor passed away before finishing his greatest project. Although he could not complete his dream it is still one of the largest temples in the world with a height of over 100 meters.  It is wonderful and impressive to see local visitors pay their respects. When finished continue to another amazing site, that of the “Mingu Bell” which is made of bronze and weighs 90 tons and was built the same period of Mingun temple. Today, it’s believed to be the world’s largest uncracked bell.

Once you have toured in these impress sites, have lunch nearby, then sail back to Mandalay. Relax at the hotel and have dinner in town.

Day (9)Amarapura & Visit a country village(B/L)

 

Leave the hotel after having breakfast. Mandalay is home to 75% of Buddhist monks who live in the country, therefore your first place to visit is Mahagandayon Buddhist Teaching monastery where it has 1300 monks live. Explore and learn more about the Buddhist religion and what is involved in becoming a monk.  You will experience a place of quiet and tranquility.

After observing this peaceful monastery, you will drive to a countryside village. Once you reach the village, a friend of Immersive Golden Land Travels will cook lunch for you, then  you will have a chance to intimately explore the village by visiting village homes, meet with village chief to learn about his people and how life is in the country, then you will be taken to ride on a typical Burmese mode of transportation,  an Ox-cart to visit the village farmland.

After you have toured in this friendly village, say “ Tar Tar “ which is how the villagers say ‘goodbye’ in Burmese. You will then proceed to U Bein bridge which was built in 1846 and is considered to be the world’s longest wooden bridge. Cross the bridge, and once you get at the end you will be taken to on a private canoe boat to watch the sunset on the Taungthaman Lake. Cold drinks will be served on the boat. Then head back to your hotel and have a relaxing dinner.

Day (10) Fly back home ( B )

There is a saying: All good things come to an end. And so we at Immersive Golden Land Travels must say ‘Tar Tar’ which is goodbye in Burmese.
After breakfast, you will be driven to the Mandalay International Airport.  At the airport, we will assist you with documents and ensure you all is set for a relaxing flight.
If anyone on the program would like to remain on your own or would like to travel to other countries in Southeast Asia we are happy to help and/or advise you with any questions or needs you might have.

Terms & Conditions

   

Rate: All rates at Immersive Golden Lands Travel are non-commissionable, and include a 10% service charge & 5%  government tax.

   

Payment: Immersive Golden Lands Travel requests prepayment for all bookings. Full payment to be made 30 days before the first day of the program.

   

Child Policy: Immersive Golden Lands Travel provides 100% Free Of Charge for a child under the age of 2 years and younger. A child 8 years and younger costs 75% for the child of an adult’s full fee, assuming the child shares the parents’ bed for sleeping.

   

Complimentary: Immersive Golden Lands Travel provides 1 Free of Charge program leader for a group of a minimum of 15 people.

 

Cancellation & No show: Cancellations must be made 30 days before the first day of the program start date, otherwise immersive Golden Lands Travel has the right to charge cancellation fees as follow;

1). Within 30 – 15 days, of the program start date, charged 25%

2). Within 14 – 8 days, of  the program start date, charged 50%

3). Within 7 days, of the program start date, charged 100%

4). No show would be charged 100%
